The welding socket has a socket body (1) consisting of thermoplastic material, on whose inner surface (2) a resistance wire winding (3) is arranged. A reinforcing ring (6) is arranged on the external circumference (5) of the socket body (1) by being pressed on, which reinforcing ring (6) has circumferential stresses which are produced by the expansion. These stresses act radially on the socket body (1) and increase the welding pressure which is required for a good welded joint.
