Regulation of chassis of motor vehicle with regulatable vibration dampers - using proportional valves for adjusting damping force and measuring body acceleration and damping force actual value

The measured body acceleration (aa) is compared with a threshold value (aao) for computing the damping force desired value (Fsoll). With a body acceleration smaller than the threshold value, the damping force desired value is set equal to the damping force actual value. With a body acceleration larger than the threshold value, the damping force desired value is determined by the multiplication of the body acceleration with a constant (j,k). A regulating deviation as a difference between the determined damping force desired value (Fsoll) and the measured damping force actual value, is supplied to a regulating unit (R) for the forming of an adjustable variable (I) for the damping force (FD). ADVANTAGE - Method uses simple and quick algorithm. Cost of sensors is reduced, and application of relative speed for computing desired value is dispensed with.
