The structure of a large-surface shield is composed of a number of similar parts (1), each with an inner core formed by a number of bullet-proof layers (11). Each of the large-surface outer sides are covered with layers (2,4) of a coated woven material, with woven strips (3,4) covering the ends. The woven strips (3) are stitched round at their overlapping edges and with the outer layers (2,4). The stitched seams (5,6; 5',6') are wholly covered on both sides by bondings (7a,7b') with adhesive coated woven strips (8,8'). The woven strips (8) on one side have a hooked ribbon (7a) round on one side as a bonding and the strips (8') have a pile ribbon (7b') round on the other side to lock with the other. USE/ADVANTAGE - The shield is used by security forces and law enforcement agencies for riot control and the like, where the personnel can be subjected to missiles and shots. It can also be used to shroud radar assemblies and the like, in combat situations. It is easily made, gives full protection, and is lightweight.
