The hand operated utensil, especially for domestic and kitchen use, has a functional part (11) and a thin handle (12) consisting of two parallel bars (13) bent into a U shape. The handle holds a longitudinally adjustable, nearly spherical, preferably refined steel touch piece (15) the diameter of which is at least 20 millimetres, and exceeds that of one of the bars (13).The intrinsic springiness of the bars holds the touch piece between them. The sides of the touch piece have guide recesses (16) containing the bars.
