Proposed is a slip-controlled brake system in which inlet-valve operation noise is damped effectively, but with a design which is less complex than that of prior art systems. The invention achieves this by virtue of the fact that a common differentially acting pressure-control device is fitted between an auxiliary pressure source (22) and the inlet valves (7, 8) of several wheel brakes. A reference pressure corresponding to the brake pressure at one of the wheels is fed to the pressure-control device (20) through a pressure selector (24). The pressure selector (24) may be designed so that it transmits either the highest or the lowest of the wheel brake pressures.
