A burner for a shaft furnace is provided, in particular a burner for pulverised coal intended to be fitted in a pipe (10) for injecting preheated air into a crucible (12) of a blast furnace. A lance for injecting pulverised coal (24) is fitted axially or virtually axially in the blast pipe (20). The lance head (28) is supported on the axis of the said tuyere (16) by a fitted component (30) either in the said tuyere (16) or directly upstream of the said tuyere (16). This component (30) at the same time forms a baffle for the preheated air so as to make it highly turbulent in the vicinity of the outlet orifice(s) (29) of the lance (24). <IMAGE>
