Zeolite consisting of a hexagonal polytype aluminosilicate of faujasite, the said zeolite having a Si:Al ratio greater than 1 and which can exceed 3, having a crystalline structure of hexagonal symmetry having parameters a, b and c of the hexagonal unit cell such that 1.72 nm < a = b < 1.77 nm and 2.80 nm < c < 2.89 nm and having an X-ray diffraction diagram, after calcination at 600 DEG C for 4 hours, comparable with that given in Table I of the description.
