Compositions based on antiseptics and their applications.

Compositions for external use based on antiseptics, as well as their applications especially in general hygiene and more particularly in the form either of microcapsules or microspherules, especially in combination with a prophylactic device made from elastomeric material, such as a condom, a fingerstall, a glove or the like, a dressing or a bandage, or in the form of foams or baths. These antiseptic-based compositions consist of pairs of antiseptics in which the said antiseptics are at minimal effective concentrations reduced by at least a factor of 5 relative to the minimal effective concentrations of each of the said antiseptics taken separately, which pairs are chosen from: I - the pairs quaternary ammonium-chlorohexidine digluconate, II - the pairs non-ionic antiseptic-hexamidine, III - the pairs quaternary ammonium-non-ionic antiseptic, IV - the pairs non-ionic antiseptic-chlorohexidine digluconate, which pairs exert a polyvalent action against the following organisms: Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, viruses, fungi and spermatozoa.
