The invention comprises a wall (22) having first and second spaced surfaces, (24,26), and a first plane (30) disposed therebetween which includes first and second coplanar (X) and orthogonal axes. A passage (34) extends between the first and second surfaces and includes a portion (40) having longitudinal axis (42) disposed at an acute angle (A) to the first plane, a first section (44) being disposed perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis and a second section (50) disposed parallel to the first plane. The passage first section (44) is generally elliptical and the passage second section (50) is generally circular, thereby minimizing stress concentration when, for example, the passage is a cooling passage in a combustion liner or blade in a gas turbine engine. |
