A denture adhesive which is useful in aiding in the retention of dentures to the oral mucosa constitutes a mixture of solid polyacrylic acid and polymeric hydroxy compound of sufficiently high molecular weight to be solid at room temperature. The combination can be used in the form of a powder or can be mixed in an oil base for application as a cream or liquid. The composition can also include hydration enhancers and pH adjustment agents.
