A battery has an exposed negative terminal 2, positive terminal 10 hidden within the battery casing, an exposed dummy terminal 3 and a control circuit including a heavy duty switch eg. soleniod 9 between the positive and dummy terminals and sealed within the battery, the control, circuit having an input for connection to an external code-controlled operating device for controlling the enabling of the switch. The positive terminal 10 may be connected through isolator relay 12 to an INHIBIT circuit C, such that when ignition is switched on power is fed to a keypad and only if predetermined code has been set into the keypad in order to pass is an operating signal passed to electronic lock 13 to switch the relay 12 to connect power to an ENABLE circuit B and to disconnect the supply from the INHIBIT circuit C. This causes solenoid 9 to operate to connect positive terminal 10 to the dummy terminal 3. When the ignition key is moved to the start position power is supplied to a starter motor. <IMAGE> |
