<p>An apparatus for heating molten metal, as shown in Fig 1, includes a ladle (1) provided with a refractory heat insulating material (3) and first core members arranged in pairs, having poles 8a and 8b, and attached to the outer circumference of the ladle (1); a tray capable of mounting said ladle (1) carries second cores (11y) with magnetic pole portions at both ends of said so as to face the ladle mounted first cores (8); and a coil (14) is provided for exciting the second cores is further characterised by the provision of a refractory material 57 on the inner circumference of the coil as illustrated in Fig 7.
