PURPOSE:In a rotary compressor for an automotive air conditioner, to readily work with a high accuracy a suction groove for communicating a suction hole with a vane chamber and controlling an amount of refrigerant to be sucked, and provide suppressing effect of refrigerating capacity, by forming the suction groove on both side surfaces of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In a rotary compressor, refrigerant is sucked from a side plate through suction passages 16 and suction grooves 17 formed on an inner surface of a cylinder 11 into a vane chamber 12, and is compressed by sliding end surfaces of vanes 15 on an inner wall surface of the cylinder 11, being accompanied by rotary motion of a rotor 13, and then is discharged through discharge ports 18. In this case, the suction grooves 17 are formed on both side surfaces of the cylinder 11, so that they may be readily worked by a small cutter from an upper side of the side surfaces of the cylinder 11. In this way, it is possible to easily set the width (b) and the depth (t) of the suction grooves 17 to a constant value. Accordingly, gradient of control characteristics of refrigerant capacity is increased to reduce loss of the capacity during low speed running and also to obtain self-suppressing function of refrigerating capacity during high speed running. |
