PURPOSE:To obtain an industrial germicide capable of improving stability of an isothiazolone-based compound, useful as an industrial germicide, to water without adding a metallic salt causing lowering of quality of the germicide, stable for a long period even in the presence of water and capable of readily handling. CONSTITUTION:(A) A cyanoacetoamide based compound of formula II (X<3> is H or halogen; Y is halogen; R<2> is H or alkyl), preferably N-methyl-2,2- dibromo-3-nitropropionic amide is added to an aqueous solution containing (B) an isothiazolone based compound of formula I (X<1> and X<2> are H or halogen; R<1> is H or alkyl) so as to contain both components in a weight ratio of the components A:B of normally about (100:1) to (1:1), preferably (70:1) to (2:1). Thereby the compound of formula I is stabilized to provide the objective germicide containing the compound of formula I, the compound of formula II and water and substantially containing no metallic salt. Furthermore, the compound of formula II may be dissolved in water after previously dissolving the compound in a solvent such as ethylene glycol and the germicide further may contain the solvent. |
