PURPOSE:To measure the momentum of a man during pedaling of a bicycle and to perform accurate measurement of consumption calorie by providing a momentum gauge capable of measuring a momentum required for pedaling. CONSTITUTION:A tension detecting mechanism 2 for detecting the tension of the upper part of a chain is arranged juxtaposition with the upper part of a chain 1 for transmission of a power. By detecting the tension of the chain, a momentum of a man required pedaling of a bicycle can be detected. The tension detecting mechanism 2 brings a gear 9 for detection into contact with the outside of the upper part of the chain and a force exerted on the mounting part 10 of the gear for detection is detected by means of a strain gauge 11. Detected data is electrically processed by a processing part and displayed at a display part 3.
