PURPOSE: To secure a safe and reliable operation and to protect body organs during an operation by an insulating sheath member movable to a cylindrical member between first and second positions and a control means for selectively controlling the insulating sheath member between the first and second positions. CONSTITUTION: A handle member 12 and proximate and distal end parts 24 and 26 are arranged, and the proximate end part 24 includes a thin and long cylindrical member 14 stiffly fixed to the handle member 12, an electrode member 16 extended from the distal end part 26 of the cylindrical member 14 to the outside, a means 18 for connecting the electrode member 16 to an electric energy source and a sheath member 20 for surrounding the cylindrical member 14. The sheath member 20 has proximate and distal and parts 32 and 34 extended to the handle member 12, the sheath member 20 is movable to the cylindrical member 14 between a first position where the distal end part 34 is extended far over the far end part of the electrode member 16 and a second position where it is extended far over the distal end part 34 of the sheath member 20, and the movement of the sheath member 20 between the first and second positions is selectively controlled by a control means 22. |
