PURPOSE:To improve heat resistant oxidizing property and reduce the production cost by manufacturing a honeycomb body which is made of thin metallic plates and have mesh hole passages, forming an alminum film on the brazing portion of the honeycomb body and heating the brazing portion after coating the alminum film with brazing agent. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing, first of all, a honeycomb body H having many mesh air hole passages 3 in the axial direction is made of a single wave- like strap material 2 made of a thin wall metallic plate or by folding and piling wave-like strap materials 2 and flat plate like strap materials 1. At this time, the honeycomb body H is contained in a metallic casing 4. In the next step, an alminum film 5 is formed on a portion of the honeycomb body H including brazing section. In the next step, brazing is coated on the portions at which wave plate-like strap materials 2 abut on each other and the brazing section 6 comprising sections the wave plate-like strap materials 2 and flat plate-like material 1 abutting on each other. The honeycomb body H is heated in vacuum or under the atmosphere of non-oxidizing gas to braze the brazing section 6 and make alminum in the strap materials 1 and 2. |
