PURPOSE:To provide a catalytic raw material for purifying an exhaust gas and a catalyst using the same for which a metallic carrier capable of enhancing the efficiency of the catalyst in a cold start. CONSTITUTION:The catalytic raw material is made by forming a hook on both side of a thin plate 1 of a heat resistant metal such as a ferrite based heat resistant stainless steel so as to be protruded and the catalyst having a desired dimension and the shape is formed by winding spirally or bending zigzags the catalytic raw material with another metallic plate 3. Thus, since the flow of the exhaust gas flowing between the metallic plates 1 is disturbed by the hook, the time necessary for receiving the heat from the exhaust gas is secured and since the projecting tip part of the hook is easily heated, the temp. of the catalyst is rapidly raised to shorten the time necessary for activating the catalyst. |
