Quinolone- and naphthyridone-carboxylic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their hydrates, addn. salts and (in the case of carboxylic acids) alkali and alkaline earth metal, Ag and guanidinium salts are new. In (I) X1 = H; Hal, NH2 or CH3; A = CH; CF; CCl; COCH3; CCH3; or N; and R1 = 1-3C alkyl; FCH2CH2-; cyclopropyl; or phenyl opt. mono- di- or tri-substd. by halo; or A + R1 = C-O-CH2-CH(CH3)-; R2 = H; 1-3C alkyl (opt. substd. by OH, hal or NH2; or 5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-ylmethyl; B = a gp. of formula (a) or (b); and (b) has the S,S, R,R, R,S or S,R configuration. In the formula, Y = O, or CH2; R3 = 2-5C oxoalkyl; -CH2-CO-C6H5; CH2CH2COR'; -C(CO2R')=CH-CO2R'; -CH=CH-COR'; or -CH2CH2CN; R4 = H, 1-3C alkyl; 5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-ylmethyl; or R3; R' = H or 1-3C alkyl. |
