摘要 PURPOSE:To surely prevent a speed change shock by controlling an intermediate speed shift attaining friction connecting element to a connecting side and also a pressure of oil of a high speed shift attaining friction connecting element to a pressure just before connection, when a two-shift speed change of performing a speed change from a low speed shift to a high speed shift is detected. CONSTITUTION:An automatic transmission is provided with main and subspeed changers 3, 4, to which an output of an engine is transmitted through a torque converter 2, to constitute the main speed changer 3 by providing front and rear stage planet gear mechanisms 3A, 3B and also the subspeed changer 4 by providing a planet gear mechanism. Conditions of connecting/releasing brakes B1 to B3, B0 and clutches K1, K2, K0 are combined to obtain a speed change mode of 1-reverse shift and 5-forward shift. Here, in the case of performing a two-shift speed change from a main changer 1-speed to main changer 3-speed, at switching time to this main changer 2-speed via the 2-speed, a pressure of oil of the clutch K1 is increased to a pressure of oil a little lower than a pressure of oil just before connection to hold the pressure for a predetermined short time thereafter controlled so as to switch the speed to the main changer 3-speed.
