PURPOSE:To improve speed change responsiveness so as to suppress a V belt from its wearing by detecting a condition of a pulley at throttle opening time after quick brake action, and driving a speed change actuator so as to place the pulley in this condition simultaneously when a throttle is actually opened. CONSTITUTION:In a continuously variable transmission, rotation of an output shaft 10a of an engine 10 is transmitted to output shafts 66, 68 through the continuously variable transmission provided with a fluid coupling 12, forward/ reverse switching mechanism 15, V belt type continuously variable transmission 29, differential gear 56, etc. In the V belt type continuously variable transmission 29, movable conical plates of variable diameter drive/driven pulleys 16, 26 are displaced through a speed change control valve by actuating a speed change actuator to change an effective diameter. Here, when a quick brake condition is detected, after this detection, a position of the movable conical plate of the pulley 16 or 18 is detected when a throttle is opened. Simultaneously with throttle opening, the speed change actuator is driven and controlled to a speed change ratio position corresponding to the detected pulley condition. |
