PURPOSE:To improve running capability and the like by transmitting power from a drive pinion to an axle shaft through a ring gear, a differential pinion, a gear and a side gear, and by arranging the ring gear horizontally, so as to form an axle case in a flat shape. CONSTITUTION:A ring gear 1, whose axis of rotation is a shaft Y perpendicularly crossing an axle shaft X, and a differential case 2, which rotates in one unit with the ring gear 1, are provided. A plurality of differential pinion 5 are provided on the differential case 2 and a plurality of gears A6, B7, whose common rotation shaft the shaft Y engaging with these two types of gears, are also provided. Torque transmitted to the gear 1 from a drive pinion 12 through respective side gears A8, B9, whose common rotation shaft is the axle shaft X, is transmitted to a plurality of axle shafts A10, B11. Differential action is obtained through the differential pinion 5 and the respective gears A6, B7 as well as speed reduction action is obtained through the drive pinion 12 and the ring gear 1.
