The invention relates to a composition comprising an emulsion copolymer of an alkyl acrylamido glycolate alkylether, vinyl acetate, and a functional hydroxide containing monomer, a process for its preparation as well as its use as binder, coating, or adhesive, in particular as a self-crosslinking binder composition. The preferred alkyl acrylamido glycolate alkylether is methylacrylamido glycolate methylether (MAGME TM ).
