PURPOSE: To obtain a sunburn preventive having a well balanced absorption against UVA and UVB radiation rays, and having a further improved SPF-value. CONSTITUTION: This method for producing a sunburn preventive consists of the following processes: granular zinc oxide is pulverized in an oil in the presence of a granular pulverization medium and an organic dispersant for the oil, wherein the pulverization is continued up to the state in which the granular zinc oxide has an average particle diameter of 0.005-0.15μm, the dispersion is substantially transparent to visible rays, and it has absorptions of ultraviolet rays in such degrees that an absorption coefficient at the wave length of 308nm [E (308)] is at least 9 litter/g/cm, an absorption coefficient at the wave length of 360nm [E (360)] is at least 9 litter/g/cm, and a ratio of E (360):E (308) is in the range of (0.75:1) to (1.5:1); the above-mentioned granular pulverization medium is separated from the dispersion; and the resultant dispersion is mixed with at least one material which is cosmetically permissible. |
