<p>Biological reference control compsns. for use in the analysis of naturally occurring biologically similar unknowns are prepd. by freezing during 10-24 hours a portion of biological materials similar in compsn. to and contg. the same components as the unknown sample. Then removing 98-99% by wt. of water to give a dehydrated solid, and storing the solid in this form. For use, reconstituting the solid with aq. medium contg. 20-50% 2-5C alkylene polyol in a concn. equal to the water originally removed. The control compsns. are stable liquids at -20 to 8 degrees C even on prolonged storage. Useful for human blood serum or plasma, enzymes, hormones, proteins, electrolytes, metabolites used in the diagnosis of diseases, both human and non-human. The reconstituted samples are useful as calibration standards or reference controls for automated analysers etc.</p> |
