PURPOSE: To prevent the nozzle of a print head from contacting the vacuum port of a movable priming device by executing priming by applying a vacuum to at least one nozzle located on the linear extended array of the print head. CONSTITUTION: An ink jet priming device 10 is provided with vacuum tubes 18 one of which is directly connected to a vacuum source 20, which is applied with a sufficient vacuum pressure to remove air and contaminates from a nozzle 12 of a printing head 14. A support body 32 supports a vacuum port 30 so that the vacuum port 30 is kept at a specified distance from the nozzle 12 of the printing head 14. The vacuum port 30 is integral with the vacuum tube 18 and is attached to a main body 32a of the support body 32. The vacuum port 30 preferably extends beyond the front of the main body 32a of the support body 32 to the outside, and the distance from the vacuum port 30 to the nozzle 12 is shorter than that of the main body 32a of the support body 32 to the nozzle 12. The vacuum port 30 is produced in size that meets one or several print head nozzles 12. |
