<p>PURPOSE: To offer a simplified, compact transmission control device which needs not placed remote from the transmission and eliminates complicated harnesses. CONSTITUTION: An electronic shift controller having a cast housing 16 is externally mounted to a transmission housing 12 and plug-in connectors 28, 52 directly couple signals between the controller and the transmission 10. A manually controlled shift selector shaft 24 extends between the transmission and the controller to operate a forward/neutral/reverse shift valve 20 in the transmission and shift selector switches 44 in the controller. A simple harness couples power, speed and ignition sense signals to the controller.</p> |
