PURPOSE: To provide a driving controller for a magnetic tape device, which is not costly and is easy to design. CONSTITUTION: The driving controller for magnetic tape device, equipped with plural servos I to IV respectively controlling the transferring speed of a magnetic tape, the number of revolution of a rotary scanner and the tape tension of the magnetic tape at a take-up reel are provided with a high-order first microprocessor 38 is provided for monitoring and diagnosing the individual servos I to IV. A low-order second processor 39 is used only for calculating a digital variable control value, with respect to the individual servos I to IV.
