Method for evaluating the degree of fatigue in a material which is to be inspected before onset of microcracking, on the basis of data measured non-destructively by means of diffracted X-ray beams. A fatigue test is carried out by applying a predetermined class of predicted repetitive stress in a working environment of the material which is to be inspected on a reference piece with a quality corresponding to the material. A measurement of the diffracted X-rays is carried out on the reference piece for a plurality of time points during the fatigue test, so that, in relation to the measurement results, a characteristic fatigue curve is obtained, which corresponds to the relationship between the integrated values of the repetitive stress and the intensities of the diffracted X-ray beams. The degree of variation between several (10) intensities of the diffracted X-ray beams measured is compared with the characteristic fatigue curve. <IMAGE> |
