PURPOSE:To automatically obtain a zoomed document in the size of a document area by surely extracting the document area from an image by resolving the problem of erroneously extracting an image, which is not the document, as the document image in the case of automatically extracting the document image while using an electronic zoom means. CONSTITUTION:The entire area containing a figure is picked up by a camera 1 for outputting the entire area image, and a document image extracting means 2 extracts a moving image from motion detection in the entire area image and outputs extracting area designating information for designating the document image area from the moving area. Based on the extracting area designating information, an electronic zoom means 3 segments the designated area from the entire area image. Thus, the document image is extracted, and picture elements are thinned or interpolated so that the number of picture elements in the document image can be the prescribed number of picture elements. |
