<p>PURPOSE: To establish a desirable leakproof pressure-proof seal of an insert to be fixed to a tapered hole of plastic parts, by giving the insert a cylindrical notched surface and a circular protruded surface below the notched surface, and expanding the diameter of the protruded surface to cut into the tapered hole of the plastic parts. CONSTITUTION: At the head of an insert for post-mold embedding for plastic parts are provided cylindrical notched surfaces 10, 12 separated by a circular groove 14, and below them are provided inwardly inclined upper and lower tapered surfaces 16, 17, while a sharp ring edge 18 is formed between the surfaces 16 and 17. Below the tapered surface 17 follows a ring bottom 21 composed of ring protrusions 22 separated by a groove 23 across a thin wall 20 contiguous to the surface 17. The insert is fitted in the tapered hole 24 of the plastic parts 25, an expansion tool 30 is set to the insert, and the ring bottom 21 is expanded in diameter by the split expander 34 of the tool to firmly fix the insert to the plastic body 25.</p> |
