PURPOSE:To provide the picture information processing unit in which the front side and the rear side of a double side picture are correctly printed out and plural pictures are properly synthesized. CONSTITUTION:The processing unit is provided with the mode 21 in which a one side picture and a double side picture of an original picture are not distinguished from each other but formed as a double side picture and with the mode 22 in which a one side picture and a double side picture of the original picture are distinguished from each other but formed as a double side picture. Moreover, when plural pictures are synthesized and outputted onto one picture output medium, a direction command function 13 to command the direction of an original is provided to the processing unit and the output direction of the picture is controlled based on the command.
