PURPOSE: To improve positioning precision and to ensure a precise absolute position, by using a compact structure, providing a prime mover having sufficient rigidity in the axial direction and backlashless characteristics, and reducing hysteresis and internal friction as far as possiblein in an actuator for converting rotary movement into linear movement. CONSTITUTION: The actuator comprises a prime mover 1 turning a reduction gear assembly 2 which, in turn, drives a mechanical transmission 3 mounted on the output side including a linearly moving control element. The actuator has backlashless characteristics, and to attain superior positioning precision and ensure the position, adopts the reduction gear assembly 2 which is self-locking with respect to the maximum back-driving torque exerted on the reduction gear assembly 2 by the mechanicaltransmission 3, while the mechanical transmission itself is designed reverse movable. In particular, it adopts a wave gear reducer as the concentric reducer 2, and a ballscrew in the mechanical transmission 3. |
