The present invention relates to a machine tool of the type including: two vertical uprights (6a, 6b) spaced apart from one another, a horizontal crosspiece (4) exhibiting two ends (5a, 5b) respectively set into the said two uprights (6a, 6b), and a machining head (2) mounted on the said crosspiece with the aid of guide means allowing it to be displaced along the said crosspiece, the said machining head being located facing the front face (3) of the said crosspiece (4) and exerting a torque couple on the said crosspiece (4) under the action of its weight P, characterised in that it includes, in addition, means (11a, 11b) for exerting on the said crosspiece (4) an antagonistic torque couple having substantially the same value as the torque couple exerted by the weight P of the said machining head (2) on the said crosspiece (4) but in the opposite direction, the said means being located inside the said crosspiece (4). <IMAGE> |
