This jack includes arms which are articulated under the action of a threaded rod, two of these arms for this purpose being provided with a stop piece and/or a nut with end journals receiving the threaded rod operated by a crank, the method being characterised in that in order to implement the nut (6) and/or the stop piece (9) a local deformation (11) of at least one of the legs (flanges) (42, 43) of the U-section (1, 2) is made over such a depth that this deformation constitutes, for the journal (61, 62, 91, 92) of the stop piece or of the nut, a lateral passage path and in that after installation, a deformation in the opposite direction is made in order to lock the journal in its hole. <IMAGE>
