<p>A splash shield (1) for containing contaminated fluids from a wound (5) and a method of use are disclosed. The shield (1) is a transparent dome-shaped body (29) made from a plastic film. The shield can be pierced by a sharp medical instrument, such as hypodermic syringe (4) or scalpel (16), and the wound cleansing or draining operation takes place under the shield (1) as it is held against the patient. The shield (1) is deformed by hand to conform to the wound site (5). The shield (1) can also be handheld above and spaced from the wound site (5) while the cleansing or draining operation takes place, to intercept and provide protection from splashed or squirted fluids. The shield (1) is provided in single use, disposable form.</p> |
