Fluidised bed for burning carbonaceous fuel - has cyclone separators to remove dust from fluidising gas before returning it to gas supply nozzles

A combustion chamber for burning a fuel with a carbon content, has a fluidised bed which is enclosed between walls with cooled surfaces. The floor (2) which supports the fluidised bed slopes downwards from the two opposite long sides and the junction line between these two sloping surfaces slopes upwards from the two opposite short sides (y) to the middle point (x). The floor is provided with holes for nozzles (8) which supply primary gas to the fluidised bed. The gas above the fluidised bed flows through pipes to cyclone type separators which remove the dust and return the gas to the nozzles (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - The cyclone separators prevent clogging of primary gas nozzles with dust from the fluidised bed.
