The towing device is for a vehicle. It comprises an engagement piece (3) in the form of a hook or an eye, to which the tow rope can be attached, and a holding element (4) which is secured to the vehicle. The holding element consists of a threaded bolt (5) with a hexagonal head (7) and a press fit bush (6), and is rotatably mounted within the towing hook or eye. USE/ADVANTAGE - Arrangement esp. suitable for a plastics tow rope which avoids the danger of the holding element becoming unscrewed from the vehicle.
