New haloalkyl-azolyl derivs. - are fungicides used esp. to control fungal attack on rice, cereals, fruit and vegetables

Haloalkyl-azolyl derivs. (I) and their addn. salts and metal salt complexes are new; where R is opt. substd. alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aryl; X1 is Cl or Br; X2 is hal; and Y is N or CH. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cpds. (I) are fungicides having good plant tolerance and active against a wide variety of plant fungi, esp. those which attack rice (Pyricularia oryzae and Pellicularia sasakii), cereals (e.g., Cochliobolus sativus, Leptosphaeria nodorum and Erysiphe spp.) as well as fruit and vegetables (e.g., Venturia and Botrytis spp.). They can be formulated conventionally and cannot only be applied to plants, but can also be used as seed dressings and to treat soil. Cpds. (I) have better activity than cpds. known from EP--97425.
