The dental instrument is clamped to a handle (1) which has a cup-shaped socket formed at its end. The socket wall has two diametrically opposite holes (3) to receive the shaft (2) of the instrument. A plug (6) is inserted in the socket before the shaft is inserted in the holes (2). The plug (6) has a diametral slot of trapezoidal cross-section. A compression spring (8) inside the socket presses the plug (6) in the outward direction so that the shaft (2) is clamped between the converging walls of the diametral slot. The plug (6) is retained in the socket by a grub screw which engages a slot in the plug surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Handle for dental instrument which is easily but securely attached and easily removed.
