<p>The present invention provides a fastener (10) adapted to mount through a wall and is known as a blind side fastener. The fastener (10) broadly includes a shaft (20) formed as a body portion (30) and a neck portion (40) joined to one another at a shoulder (50) with the neck portion (40) extending longitudinally of the body portion (30) to terminate at an end (22). The neck cross section has a longitudinal recess (60) that is between the neck portion (40) and an imaginary surface formed as a geometric projection of the body portion cross section along the longitudinal axis of the body portion (30). The fastener (10) provides an engagement means (26) for engaging the mounting element, a crosspiece (70) having arms and a hinge means (80) for interconnecting the midportion of the crosspiece (70) to the shaft (20) and for resiliently biasing the crosspiece (70) in a locked position. In an alternative embodiment the shaft (120) and the crosspiece (170) are connected by a living hinge (180).</p> |
