Pressure in the brake line (10) from the master cylinder (3) to a wheel brake (e.g. 6) is modulated by a valve arrangement (13) with a high-pressure pump (23) for fluid return in antilock mode. An induction line (29) connecting the pump to the master cylinder passes through a blocking valve (30) operable by an impact piston (39) on the side remote from the valve seating (34). A plunger (42) connecting the piston to the steel ball (32) of the valve is spring-biased (40) to the open position. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. on private car, simple valve achieves closure of induction line under heavy loading, but low-pressure side piston seal is subject to only slight stress.
