Nappy has self-fastening construction which can be repeatedly used and undone. It is fastened by means of strip of basic material which is covered with discrete adhering segments coated with self-adhesive on at least the part where it is to adhere to the second part of the nappy when in use. This self-adhesive substance produces bonds such that the coating and the outer layer on the nappy provide peel strength of 2.5 N/30cm or more and the outer layer can be taken off and stuck on again many times without damage to that layer. Pref. substances for the basic material are polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC or polyester; the prod. pref. has release film of silicone-paper, polyethylene or polypropylene; the self-adhesive is pref. based on block copolymers of styrene-isoprene-styrene, styrene-butadiene-styrene or styrene-ethylene-butylene, alternatively a hot melt adhesive based on acrylic esters or polyester-acrylates. ADVANTAGE - The nappy has simple and sensible fastening arrangement which is repeatedly reusable. It requires no reinforcement. It is not damaged by repeated use. It does not have to have release film.
