A dispenser has an adapter for connection to a bottle and a valve head with a suction channel communicating with a suction pipe in the bottle, the novelty being that (i) the suction pipe (24) is connected to a suction channel (23) of the adapter (17); and (ii) a closure element (29) for the suction channel (23) is provided in the adapter (17) and can move into an open position, when the dispenser (10) is joined to the adapter, or a closed position, when the dispenser is removed from the adapter, the suction channels (16,23) in the adapter (17) and the valve head (11) being connected together in the open position of the closure element (29). USE/ADVANTAGE - The dispenser is useful in laboratories and may be any type of delivery unit, e.g. burette, diluter, pump, etc. It is easily and rapidly connected to or removed from a bottle or flask and automatically closes to prevent risk of operator contact with liq. drips or spray.
