A box (10) for holding a smoker's requisites has two compartments (12, 14) with a central container (15) for an extinguishing medium such as water. The container (15) is in the form of a tube which is closed by an end wall which forms a floor at the lower end. The container is made of flexible material and has circumferential folds so that it resembles a concertina. A mechanism, operated by an external lever (18), enables the floor of the container to be pressed upwards and so maintain the water at a constant level to compensate for evaporation. The container is large enough to receive cigarette ends, matches etc. and to extinguish them. USE/ADVANTAGE - Storage of smoker's requisites with means to extinguish cigarette ends, thus reducing the risk of starting a fire.
