PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound useful as a medicine, agricultural chemical or intermediate therefor in high yield, by reacting an enamine prepared from a beta-ketamide and primary amine with an adduct of diketene with a ketone in an inert solvent while heating. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is aryl, heterocyclic ring, cycloalkyl or secondary or tertiary alkyl; R<2> is H, aryl, heterocyclic ring, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, etc.; R<3> is alkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, etc.; n is 1-4), e.g. enamine prepared from 3-oxoheptananilide and benzylamine, etc., is reacted with a compound expressed by formula II (R<4> and R<5> are alkyl), e.g. 2,2,6-trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one, etc., in an inert solvent, e.g. toluene, etc., at about 110-140 deg.C to afford the aimed 1,4-dihydro-6-methyl-4-oxo-3- pyridinecarboxamide compound expressed by formula III. |
