PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing an aqueous solution of a carbohydrate, polyether polyol, reaction catalyst and isocyanate compound and capable of forming foams having high flame retardance characteristic, high strength as well as low absorption ratio and useful for building materials, etc. CONSTITUTION:A composition obtained by blending (A) an aqueous solution and/or slurry of a carbohydrate with (B) a polyether polyol obtained by reacting (i) a straight-chain aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having >=3 hydroxyl grups in one molecule, preferably sorbitol with (ii) an alkylene oxide, (C) a reaction catalyst and (D) an isocyanate compound and, as necessary, (E) a foam stabilizer and/or flame retardant. The moisture content of the component (A) is preferably 5-20wt%. |
