A cylindrically-shaped rubber seal is connected to a crimped wire terminal (1) inserted to a connector member (5 and 6) to effectively seal the terminal housing (5 and 6), or is connected to the fitting members of mating connectors (5 and 6) to effectively seal the fitting members (5 and 6). The rubber seal is made of a rubber filled with reinforcing fibers (21) oriented in the axial direction of the rubber seal to impart anisotropy to the strength of the rubber, so that the strength of the axial direction (X) is greater than the strength in the vertical direction (Y) perpendicular to the axial direction (X) and flexibility is maintained in the vertical directions (Y). The rubber seal is also used as a connector seal to seal the mating members (5 and 6) of mating male-female connectors.
