Herein disclosed is a water injection Diesel engine which is freed from any burning instability even if the amount of water to be injected is increased. The water injection Diesel engine is intended for injecting fuel and water into its cylinder by a single shared fuel injection valve (40) and is equipped with change-over valves (201; 16, 116) for opening and closing a fuel passage (117) and a water passage (17) to inject the fuel and water alternately. In another mode of the present invention, the control valves (16, 116) for opening and closing a water feed passage (15) and a fuel feed passage (115), which are connected with the fuel injection valve.
