A mobile platform assembly 10 has a rectangular platform 12 with a deck 16 and castors 14. Securing means (which comprises an engagement means 28 and a retaining means 30) and a separator 32 are located along a longitudinally extending edge 18b of the platform 12. The engagement means 28 and retaining means 30 can engage with the corresponding securing means of a similar platform 12, when the two platforms 12 are brought into engagement, to retain the two platforms 12 in close alignment to form a rigid, unified platform structure with an enlarged deck presented by the structure. The engagement means 28 and the retaining means 30 respectively restrain the two platforms 12 from moving apart laterally and longitudinally relative to each other. The separator 32 is cocked during the engagement of two platforms 12, and is manually operable to disengage the securing means between two engaged platforms 12.
